A*STAR India Youth Scholarships

Full Scholarships for 4 years of Secondary & Pre-University Studies in Singapore
The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (Singapore) launched the A*STAR India Youth Scholarships in 2004. In the last 4 years, we have received overwhelming response from Indian applicants. Current A*STAR India Youth scholars have arrived in Singapore annually since 2005 and are now doing well in their studies.
We are pleased to offer A*STAR India Youth Scholarships this year to outstanding students for 4 years of studies in Singapore, leading to the Singapore-Cambridge Central Certificate of Education (Advanced) Level or equivalent, an international qualification widely recognized in many countries. Secondary 3 Level studies will commence in January 2009 at selected Singapore schools for successful candidates, and scholars will sit for the GCE ‘A’ Level Examinations or equivalent at the end of Pre-University 2.

Value of Award:
• Exemption from school and examination fees (excluding miscellaneous fees)
• Hostel Accommodation
• One return economy class air passage at the start and end of the scholarship term
• Annual allowance of S$ 2,200 (Secondary Level) & S$ 2,400 (Pre-University Level).
• Setting-in allowance of S$ 400 (once only).
• Subsidized medial benefits.
There is no bond attached to the Scholarship
Who can apply:
• Indian Nationals
• Born between 1992 and 1994
• Completed Standard 8, in the Year 2008
• Possess outstanding academic track record (at least an average of 80%) with English as first language in the Standard 8 examinations.
How to Apply:
Detach and fill the Application Slip below ( Refer the leading newspapaers in india dated 16.06.2008). Please send the completed Application Slip with certified true copies of the following documents in the order listed below:
1. Completed Application Slip.
2. Curriculum Vitae (1 page only) with your full name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address and a summary of your major achievements.
3. Certified copy of your Year 7 & 8 school examination results.
4. Achievements/ awards won and participation in extra-curricular activities in Year 7 & 8

Selection Tests & Interviews:
Short-listed candidates will be invited to sit for selection tests in General Ability, English Language and Mathematics in end August/ early September 2008. Candidates will be further short-listed for an interview in November 2008. Both tests and interviews will be conducted in India. Please indicate your preferred test city in the Application slip. **Only Short-listed applicants will be contacted**
