A fixed-term position to carry out research for a PhD thesis jointly with the University of Tuebingen, Germany, (chair of Prof. Dr. F. Schreiber) and the Institut Laue-Langevin is available on
Neutron spectroscopy and complementary techniques on protein model systems in concentrated solutions: Effects of charge and denaturation
within the Ph.D. studentship grant scheme of the Institut Laue-Langevin.
The aim of the project is to enhance the knowledge of protein centre-of-mass diffusion and protein internal dynamics as a function of several environmental parameters such as protein concentration, ionic strength of the solution, and temperature including in particular the denaturation transition.
The candidate should hold a Diploma or equivalent in Physics, Physical Chemistry, Biophyscis, or equivalent, and must fulfill the formal requirements to enroll in the PhD programme of the University of Tuebingen. He/she should have a broad knowledge in condensed matter physics. A background in X-ray or neutron scattering methods as well as knowlegde of advanced numerical methods for data analysis, and / or a background in biophysics and experience in handling of proteins would be an advantage.
