Biegun Warburg Junior Research Fellowship
Organisation: University of Oxford
WWW: www.st-annes.ox.ac.uk/about/job_opportunities.html
The governing body of St. Anne’s College invites applications for the Biegun Warburg Junior Research Fellowship. The fellowships provide an opportunity for individuals at the early stages of their academic careers to pursue research. The fellowship is offered for research in the social sciences, and will be offered this year for geography, politics, economics and law.
The fellowship will be awarded for one year in the first instance, and will be renewed for a second year with satisfactory progress.
The maximum salary of the fellowship, including three hours of teaching per week, will be £19,500 per annum but this figure may be adjusted to take account of any award or grant already held by or promised to the successful applicant. Free accommodation (bed-sitting room) will be offered if available and required; otherwise a living-out allowance of £2,800 per annum will be paid. The fellow will be a member of the senior common room, and will be entitled to all meals free during term, and breakfast and one main meal a day during vacation, except when the hall is closed.
Candidates must not have completed more than four years of full-time research by the start of the award. Applications will be considered from graduates, men or women, in their second or subsequent year of doctoral research. Candidates registered for doctorates at other universities are eligible. Those candidates who have not completed their doctorate should provide evidence that they are likely to be in a position to submit their thesis within the first year of the fellowship.
Appointees who are not eligible to continue studying or to work in the United Kingdom (such as non-EU nationals), may require a UK work permit; the college will make the necessary application, but final appointment is contingent upon this being successful.
