Information about the funding
Graduates of a Scottish University holding a degree with first-class honours in any subject and intending to pursue three years of postgraduate research for a PhD degree can be considered for the award of a Carnegie Scholarship.
Information about the application
Applications for such Scholarships, which are intended to be the premier award in Scotland, greatly outnumber the number of Scholarships available. Students in their final year who are expected to achieve first-class honours may apply, withdrawing if they fail to do so.

Specified use
Scholarships, which can be held at any University in the United Kingdom, provide fees, maintenance and a research and travel allowance.
Application procedure
Applicants, who must be nominated by a member of academic staff, must submit their applications, on a form which is available on line but must be returned in hard copy, by 15th March to be considered for an award for the following session.
