Information about the funding
Chevening scholarships are prestige awards that enable Egyptian nationals to study in the United Kingdom. The scheme is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and administered by the British Council.
The Chevening Scholarship is the British Government’s top scholarship scheme, and is awarded only to Egypt’s brightest and most promising graduates and professionals. Up to 40 Chevening scholarships are offered by the British Embassy each year to enable Egyptians to undertake postgraduate study in the UK, giving them the opportunity to become familiar with the UK and gain skills that will be of direct benefit to Egypt on their return.
The scholarships are fully funded and cover course fees, living allowance and return airfare. The scholarships are for postgraduate study of up to a maximum of twelve months. Most scholars undertake Masters programmes, but awards to pursue short courses or research for between three to twelve months are also offered.
Applications are invited for study in all subject areas; however priority will be given to the following: Sustainable Development, Environment, Human Rights & Good Governance, Economics, Finance & Banking, Media, Politics and International law.
