Mid Sweden University with about 15 000 students and 1 000 employees have its
main activities in Härnösand, Sundsvall, and Östersund. Mid Sweden University
offers education and conduct research connected to conservation biology aiming
to contribute to the development of a sustainable forestry.

For the project “Population establishment of wood fungi on fire influenced pine wood”
ref.nr MIUN 2007/1892

Research task:
After more than 100 years of efficient fire control, many fire associated species
have strongly declined. Species living on pine wood has experienced severe
fragmentation and many occur in isolated populations where the ability to
disperse and establish is crucial for populations viability. The project aims to
study the colonization of wood fungi after forest fire. To identify the species we
will use both traditional methods and newly developed molecular approaches. As
a PhD-student you will take part in developing these tools to study the population
dynamics wood fungi.

Qualifiations:
The applicant for the 4-year position (aiming for a PhD-degree) should have a
bachelors degree in biology related to the research field described above. For
example knowledge of wood fungi, population dynamics and experience from
laboratory work with DNA-applications are valued.

    I completed my graduation and post graduation (with thesis) in Microbiology from Chittagong University, Bangladesh. I had thesis paper entitled- “Factors effecting on amylases of Aspergillus fumigatus” was submitted for the partial fulfillment of degree of Master of Science in Microbiology.This paper now accepted for publication in the Chittagong University Journal of Biological Science, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh.

    I completed my graduation and post graduation inLaw from Islamic University, Bangladesh. I had a thesis paper entitled- “The Provision of Floor Crossing in the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh: A Critical Study” was submitted for publication in Open University Journal and that paper now accepted for publication in the Open University Journal of School of Law, Open University, Bangladesh.
