Lund University, located across the bridge from Copenhagen Airport, is Scandinavia’s largest institution for education and research. Consisting of internationally competitive research groups and more than 140 people under one roof, Lund Stem Cell Center (SCC) (http://www.stemcellcenter.se) is already one of the largest in the world. The SCC has a focus on stem cell and developmental biology of the central nervous and blood system, cancer stem cell biology, and development of stem cell and cell replacement therapies in these organ system, as well as research in non-mammalian model systems.
Lund Stem Cell Center offers regular seminars in the fields of cancer stem cells, hematopoiesis, neurobiology and developmental biology. In addition, monthly workshops and lectures given by international speakers take place.
We are a young team collaborating and sharing social activities with other scientists in the center (http://www.stemcellcenter.se/groups/nuber).
DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed PhD student with team player skills to work on projects in the field of brain tumor stem cells or Rett syndrome. A background in molecular biology/cell biology is desirable. Please visit our homepage for more information.
These projects will involve the use of several state-of-the-art technologies, such as the isolation of cell populations with FACS, DNA microarrays, gene perturbation assays using viral vectors, fluorescence microscopy, and cell transplantations into mice.
