Frankfurt International Research School for Translational Biomedicine - FIRST - offers 6 Else Kröner-Fresenius-FIRST Fellowships for PhD and MD/PhD students
The graduate school FIRST of Frankfurt University focuses on all aspects of translational biomedicine and provides a structured 3 year PhD programme in English with interdisciplinary research projects within the state-of-the-art medical and pharmaceutical faculties (for details see www.first-gradschool.de/open-positions.php). Candidates should already possess a first class MSc (biochemistry, biology, pharmacy or related discipline) or MD degree. Applications consisting of a cover letter indicating personal research goals/project preferences and motivation as well as a full curriculum vitae containing a brief summary of previous research product projects, together with copies of all relevant university certificates should be sent to: Dr. Brigitte Held: held@pharmchem.uni-frankfurt.de. The deadline for applications is January 23rd, 2008. Short listed applicants will be required to attend a selection workshop in Frankfurt which will be held in the first week of Feb. 2008.

• Targeting miRNA for HCC therapy (Dr. A. Piiper, Prof. S. Zeuzem)
• Regulation of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase in human colon carcinoma cells (Prof. J. Pfeilschifter)
• Role of chemokine receptor CXCR3 for microglia activation and neuropathic pain (Prof. I. Tegeder)
