Postdoctoral Fellowship in Childhood at the Norwegiian Centre for Child Research (NOSEB)

Norwegian Centre for Child Research (NOSEB) at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology Management, announces a vacant postdoctoral position in the area of childhood studies for a period of two (2) years. This is an educational position, connected to the centre’s main prioritised areas. The fellowship is available from 1 January 2008 and is funded by Norwegian Centre for Child Research, a major international centre for research in childhood studies, located in Trondheim, Norway. The aim of the postdoctoral project is to give funding to an excellent candidate who has recently defended the PhD-thesis. This type of funding is meant to develop the candidate’s competence in her/his prioritised area, and is to qualify the candidate for future advancement in academia.

An approved PhD or equivalent degree in a social science is required. Applicants from geography, social anthropology and/or applicants with a PhD related to interdisciplinary child research will be preferred.

Applications should include curriculum vitae, a complete list of publications, and a motivation and plan for the research in relation to the planned postdoctoral stay.

The national labour force must reflect the composition of the population to the greatest possible extent. It is therefore a major political objective to achieve a balance of age and gender, and to recruit persons with an immigrant background. Immigrants are encouraged to apply for this position.

The candidate to be selected for the fellowship will work under the general regulations for university employees in Norway.

It will be required of the person appointed that she/he shall arrange his/her place of permanent abode such that no problems arise concerning her/his presence at or accessibility to the University.

The position is remunerated according to wage levels 54 -77 on the Norwegian State salary scale, with gross salary from NOK 394 700,- to NOK 613 100,- a year, normally remunerated at level 54 of which 2 % is deducted for the State Pension scheme.

Applicants must submit three (3) copies of publications and any other work which the applicant wishes to be taken into consideration. Joint and collective work may be considered. In cases where it is difficult to determine the applicant’s contribution, a brief description of the role of the applicant should be supplied.
