Job description
In the frame of the CAFE project, the Ph.D. work concerns the development of a generic methodology for optimisation and real time process control. The work will be carried out in interaction with the project partners in order to share methodological achievements and to implement them on the selected processes. Ph.D. student participation includes both experimental work on the pilot plants and original contributions in modelling, control and optimisation.
Desired profile
The applicant should have an engineering or master degree in one of the following fields: chemical engineering, process engineering, computer science, systems science, automatic control, applied mathematics. He/she should be willing to acquire necessary skills in other previously mentioned disciplines, according to the needs of the project. Good English and interpersonal skills are necessary for comfortable interaction with other project partners, in an international and interdisciplinary context.
The laboratory
The job will be based in Grignon (Yvelines, France) near Paris, at the “Microbiology and food process engineering laboratory (UMR GMPA)”, a common research unit of INRA and AgroParisTech. The laboratory hosts one of the support applications of the project, freeze?drying of lactic acid bacteria. The Ph.D. student will also work on a second application, ice cream crystallisation, at the “Industrial food process engineering laboratory (UMR GENIAL)”, a common research unit of AgroParisTech, INRA and CEMAGREF. In addition to expertise in the above mentioned processes, both laboratories have a long tradition in sensor development, optimisation and control.
