Scholarship Name

Scholarship Criteria

AAUW Scholarship

Current, full-time student, female, undergraduate.

Agnes Plummer Burns Scholarship

Must be a resident of Wallowa Co., enrolled full time @ EOU, planning major in Education.

Bigfoot Scholarship

Demonstrated financial need, 2.0+ GPA, Major or Minor in Natural Science, Math, Medicine or Nursing, Agriculture or Education, award is renewable but not automatically.

Betty Bohnenkamp AAUW

Scholarship awarded to student who present their situation of crisis to the scholarship committee.

Dobbin Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship will provide support for nursing students taking classes at EOU. Preference for males who are graduates from Baker, Union or Wallowa Counties.

Darcy Justine Howlett Memorial Scholarship

Graduate from Rainier High School in Rainier, OR who has been admitted to EOU. Preference will be given to student who plan to major in History or Psychology or are interested in outdoor recreation and/or horses.

Daniel Rama Memorial Scholarship

Recipient must be admitted to EOU and be able to document that he/she has fought fires for at least two fire seasons and demonstrate financial need. Awards are not renewable.

Evans Frankie L. and W.C.

Recipient must have financial need and be a resident of Union County. Preference goes to a nursing student.

Finnish Scholarship

Intended to support a Current full-time EOU student from Finland. Also 1.)holder of a “standard” U.S. high school diploma, 2.)HS GPA 3.0+, or minimally, a 2.0 if transferring from an accredited college. 3.)TOEFL exam to demonstrate English proficiency of 500+. 4.)Must have legal standing with INS.

Fleener Gould

Need based, currently enrolled, preference given to rural community students. Award is renewable, given satisfactory academic progress & continued financial need.

Forest Fletcher

Need based. EOU freshman, 3.5+ HS GPA, Union County resident for at least 4 years prior to EOU enrollment.

Grange Coop Scholarship

Awards made to student from Union County interested in Home Econ. Or Agriculture.

Hank Stertz Scholarship

Recipient must be a currently enrolled SO, JR, or SR on campus or through DDE with financial need. Special consideration given to students from Wallowa County or Hawaii.

Irene Sudborough

Awarded to a Native American student enrolled at EOU who demonstrates financial need, preferably someone interested in the (visual) arts but can go to someone outside this discipline if no one qualifies in the arts. Renewable upon continued qualification.

Juan Young Scholarship

Preference for students who are direct lineal descendents of former employees of Kienow’s Food Stores. Recipients must be at the time of application: under the age of 21; be a resident of Oregon; be acceptable to the college or university as a full time student.

Kristine Labernik Endowment

Scholarships are available to new or current students enrolled in business or related studies. The number and value of the scholarships will be based upon the needs of each student.

Leona Golz Scholarship

Intended for JR or SR students who have achieved academic distinction.

Virginia Boyer Laurence

Awards must be gender balanced. Current full-time students, residents of E. Oregon 10-county region. Maintain 3.5+ cumulative GPA, and demonstrate involvement in community affairs.

Lon Loudenbeck

For student from the Northwest, preferably Union County, who wishes to pursue a career in law enforcement.

Dr. Mary Jane Loso Scholarship

One scholarship will be given each academic year to a student with financial need. The scholarship will be automatically renewable for up to four years.

Lynch Memorial

Intended for outstanding students who major in business. Or related discipline and who live in Union or Wallowa counties.

Avista Minds In Motion

Elgible: FR, SO, JR, SR EOU students & Avista Corp. employee dependents. Award to cover tuition, fees, books. Recipient must be in one of the following major: Accounting, Biology/Chemistry, Business, Communications, Computer Science, Math, Economics, Environmental Science, Engineering, Natural Science, Statistics, Technology. Also students must maintain 2.5+ GPA, working toward first undergraduate degree, and have financial need.

Moody Scholarship

Must be a resident of 10 Eastern County region and be a single parent at time of application. Must maintain a 3.0+ GPA after the first three terms are completed.

Nell Colton Seig

Demonstrated financial need, completed fresheman year with 3.0+ GPA. Preference given to those preparing to be teachers or nurses, natives of Baker Co.- or barring that, Union Co. – and single parent or young couple.

Nipps Scholarship

Restricted to graduates of Cove High School. Preference given to math students.

Ruth Becker Memorial

Applicant must be a Union County High School graduate, currently or formerly affiliated with 4-H club activities and have demonstrated financial need not met by governmental programs.

Weatherspoon

At least on recipient each year will be female or a single parent family. Demonstrated financial need, completed at least on academic year’s work, undergrad status. Must have experienced an interruption in his/her education, must have clearly identifiable career goal related to academic work.

Dorothy Winters Scholarship

The recipient must be active on campus with a cumulative GPA of 2.85+.

Dale Wyatt Memorial

Recipient must be a graduate of La Grande HS and studying Education.
