December 14, 2007
Post-Doc (2); PhD student (2); technician
Research Group PhosphoSites
University of Frankfurt
Research Group PhosphoSites
At the Research Group PhosphoSites we are interested in 1) understanding the molecular aspects that participate in phosphorylation-dependent conformational changes in proteins and 2) use this information to set-up the bases for the development of novel mode of action drugs.
Interdisciplinary team: From the understanding of the basic molecular mechanisms … to the development of drugs
At the Research Group PhosphoSites we use biochemistry, molecular biology and structural biology as tools to understand the basics of the phosphorylation-dependent conformational transitions in protein kinases. We also have a team doing design and synthesis of small compounds (the Medicinal Chemistry RGP, located in Saarbrücken, Germany). Altogether, we are learning about the molecular requirements to develop small drug-like compounds to mimic conformational transitions in proteins and are committed to testing these in cells and animal models of diseases. We seek for candidates to cover positions in the diverse areas of our interdisciplinary project.
Research Group PhosphoSites, Frankfurt (2 Post-Docs, 2 PhD students, 1 technician)
For the Frankfurt RGP lab, we seek candidates interested to work in our overall research project in the areas of structural biology (crystallography), biochemistry/ molecular biology, microbiology/yeast work, cellular biology/ animal work. Research collaborations are established/ will be established with labs in Denmark, France, Spain and Argentina.
Post-docs
In particular, we are looking for an experienced crystallographer and a post-doc with experience/interest in in vitro biochemistry. Highly motivated scientists with experience in one or more of the stated areas and interest in the interdisciplinary project are encouraged to apply.
PhD students
PhD students should expect training in at least two of the topics listed above, and further gain experience in the multidisciplinary work.
Technicians
Our grant also contemplates a full-time position for an experienced technician. A further part-time position for an experienced technician is also available. We require a technician with experience in biochemistry and another with deep experience in at least one of the fields stated above.
The language in the lab is English. Contracts can start as early as Feb. 2008.

Got something to say?

I graduated from university of Khartou/Sudan (science/chemistry 1999), M.Sc. (pharmaceutical chemistry) and now registerd for Ph.D. at the the faculty of pharmacy(the chemistry of natural products-anti-leishmanicidal from medicinal plants) I am suffering more here in Sudan from the poor facilities and lacking of simple research requierments I am seeking for scholarship or fellowship to pursue my studies in any topic in organic chemistry at reputable institute, so please kindly consider my application and help me to get scholarship, I am really in need, and I want to win time.
thank you for every thing
yours sincerely
